Summary: Based on Two faces of Dr Jekyll (1960). A different fate for Kitty Jekyll.
Dear Paul,
I am writing this letter in my new bedroom. It is lovely and oh so pure, with crimson and pastel, and roses on the wallpaper.
I have left Henry. Do you know why? Because of your dear, depraved, young friend, Hyde. Yes, it is true. I saw him in my husband´s laboratory last night. He didn´t see me, nor did Henry. Yes, I know now that not only do they know each other, but they are close...more closely-knit than anyone could ever imagine.
I can´t be under same roof with those two - I dare not. I did wrong to Henry and perhaps that is the reason all of this has happened. I can´t say I pray because I don´t believe in God. But I hope - just hope - that Henry has strength to break free from that monster and his grip.
If I told you what I saw...but I can´t. You would not believe me.
I can only tell you that I crept to my room and locked it. I packed quickly - some clothes, all my jewelry, and some small trinkets with sentimental value - and then I crept out of the house, escaping into the night. I wish I could say it was the last time I saw Hyde...but it wasn't.
Today, when I was sitting in the hansom outside the pawn shop - oh, I have so many pieces of expensive jewelry I don´t need - I saw Hyde. I quickly hid myself under the canopy and watched him.
He was with young woman. Dark-haired, dressed in blue... When I watched, they bumped into an old woman - purposefully - and laughed when she fell to the street. Some decent souls helped her to her feet, but no one dared to stop Hyde and the young woman. They walked away, still laughing.
Paul, he is dangerous. I know you don´t believe me when I say this...but stay away from him. You think you can handle him...but you can´t.
He will be the death of you.
And now...it is time to say goodbye, Paul. I won't give you my new address - I will take a hansom and find a street-urchin who will deliver this letter for a couple of coins.
Please, don´t try to find me.
Kitty
