I'm from the Mid-West and I am a Christian. Christ is the center of my life. Although not all of my work is "Christian." I always try to write stories that will glorify the Lord. I believe God can use many things to show us truth and as long as it has biblical backing, we should try to find Him in all parts of life. I've been writing as a hobby since I was about 10 years old (that makes almost 11 years... Wow! I can't believe that!) I work as a receptionist, but I am studying to become a full time writer. I hope to have my book "Petals" ready for submission by 2010. I'll keep you up dated on that. I haven't ever written much fanfiction. Mostly, I just run those stories around in my head for fun, but I found this web-site and decided it would be great to actually get some of those stories on paper. I like to put different and interesting spins on the stories, looking at them in a way that, maybe hasn't been thought of yet. I have always said that, "the very best stories, inspire new ones." I truly think that if a movie or a book or a TV show is worth anything it should make you want more, even if it means making it up for yourself. As an anachronist and history geek, my fandoms generally revolve around classic movies of the 1930s-1940s, books written before 1950, and short-lived steampunk television series—a lot of which is not very conducive to fanfic! However, as far as my writing goes, the very modern-day X-Men movieverse has somehow turned out to be my “home” fandom. My strength as a writer is characterization; I always strive to capture the feeling of the fandom I’m writing in. “That seemed just like a part of the movie/book/episode” is the highest compliment I can receive. I hope what readers will take away from my fanfiction is that it is written with respect: both to a character’s creator, and (if it applies) to the actor or actress who portrayed them. My interest in fanfic writing was unleashed by a series of comics jointly released by Marvel and DC entitled 'Amalgam,' which ... amalgamated various of their characters. As objectively dire as the comics were, they provided a whole background of obscure characters whose details and careers were never filled in, and I found it an entertaining project to fill in some of those gaps. I've since branched off into telling stories set in the DC and Marvel universes formally, focusing on obscure characters from the 1940's. The stories I have submitted to NOTW are ones which reflect my interest in Jewish spirituality. My favorite comics character is probably Superman, although I almost never write about him directly; I prefer to use him as a contrast to other characters, or as an iconic figure representing classical heroism, as I use his Amalgam equivalent Super Soldier in the first Blackscream story. I enjoy listening to free jazz and 80's punk/new wave, and various members of the worldwide ska community. My favorite mid-afternoon snack is mixed nuts, due to my hypoglycemia, and they are only slightly metaphoric for my mental state. My real world ambitions are to get a real job, and to finish a graphic novel script. And when I ain't writin' or readin' comics, I dote on my daughter. My name is Kim. I’m a 30 (almost 31) year old born-again believer from the Southwest. Though a lot of my work is not necessarily faith-based, a lot of it does contain Christian undertones (can’t help it). However, I do have stories that are blatantly Christian. While most of my work is fanfiction, I do have some original pieces on the horizon (all of which are faith-based). Music is an inspiration for a lot of my work. (Nearly all the music I listen to is Christian.) I’ve also been inspired by the writings of other authors. My love for writing came about when I was eight thanks to my 3rd grade teacher. I moved away from writing for a short time in high school when I became more interested in art. My flame for writing was rekindled when I discovered fanfiction in ’04.
